Top 5 Paid Apps on the iPhone 4
There have been many trials and fails in the app world that is increasing with every breath we take. With such a large and picky crowd, app consumers are always looking for that next, break through iPhone app that will create some type of chain that is always adding on. In order to reach the success of that iPhone app has reached, you have to put the time into a game. And for this, people should admire and look up to app developers that create these hit games that stay on the Apple App Store for what it seems to be like, forever. This is not a accurate top 5 paid apps hub, but it is very accurate to me, and these are what my top 5 apps are:
5. Cut the Rope
This action-puzzel-physics game is a great buy in the app store. It is very easy to pick up and put back down in a minute, which is a huge positive: simplicity is the key in this game. Its creative and gorgeous design makes it a highly entertaining app to play for a minute, or even 20! The objective of the game is to get this piece of candy on a rope into a frogs mouth. Sounds stupid, right? Well it happens to get increasingly difficult with every new level completed. With the increasing difficulty, there are more and more factors that come into play when you start plowing through the higher levels. While your main objective is to get the candy in the frogs mouth, a side objective is to collect the stars along the way. For those people who like to take their time and complete every objective, you would go after these stars. But, I must warn you that attempting to return the stars to your bank might result in a failure- the candy falling off the screen. It does not seem too hard but all you get to start out on most maps is a single rope, and you manipulate the rope to your liking, in order to get it into the frogs mouth. Its a excellent app that is just selling for $0.99! Its a steal!
4. Doodle Jump
Doodle Jump, in my mind, has been one of the most successful apps ever developed. The neat thing about this game is its simplicity is absolutely stunning. Like Cut the Ropes, Doodle Jump has that feel to the game that you can pick it up for a few minutes and play it, or even play it for a long time. When the developers unleashed this app into the vast area of the app store, they were not expecting their game to sell like it did. This app has made over 2 million sales and still counting. Its a great, fun, exciting app that never gets boring. The basic outline of the game would be alone the lines of jumping from platform to platform, trying to avoid or destroy monsters you meet along the way up. It is a fairly easy game, but a extremely hard one to master so that allows countless hours of fun and excitement in the lone run. With its original, creative cartoon graphics, this game looks amazing and polished. Once you get into the higher levels, you encounter many obstacle that may defeat your chances to survive. I would highly recommend getting this app to anyone who does not have it. Definite buy with a price tag of $0.99!
3. Angry Birds
For a game that I have spent hours playing, I would feel guilty in leaving out this mind-blowing app: Angry Birds. This addictive puzzler game is just what I wanted on a small, compact device like the iPhone. The apps personality is great and very distinctive from the way it presents itself with the goofy cartoons, to the little cut scenes every time you complete a stage. This game is basically like Crush the Castle, but with some major upgrades. the power and angle of your catapult is the determining factor to wethier or not your shot was successful. But what do you shoot? Birds of course! The game does a great job of introducing new types of birds to the equation. As you progress through the game, you are awarded types of birds to aid your strike against little green balls of cuteness. Types include regular birds to birds that split into 3 on your command to get maximum effectiveness. These green balls are encaged inside wooden, ice, and rock structures that protect them. All you have to do is launch the birds into the structure's weak points and watch it get demolished while crushing your enemy! This is also a excellent buy that is $1.99.
2. Fruit Ninja
The sole purpose for the developers was to design a fun, quick, highly entertaining game that you can pick up and play minutes at a time. Fruit Ninja is an overall fun game and gives a unique experience to the player. All you do is control this sword and you slice and dice through flying fruit, while avoiding bombs that fly across the screen. Not many apps are out there that can be compared to Fruit Ninja. The laser precision of the controls are phenomenal which creates a very easy time to make moves and combos. I would highly recommend this and it is another great buy.
1. Game Dev Story
I cannot stress how many hours you will be glued to your iPhone screen with this app. This is truly the greatest and best application I have ever come across. At first, the graphics looked like it was from a Nintendo 64 with a little polishing here and there. Once you first open the app, you are greeted by a main menu screen and it is evident from there that this game has a cartoon element with it. You are put into the shoes of a newly created game development company, hence, the title, Game Dev Story. As you progress throughout your lifetime, you begin to develop new games and consoles for your increasing fan base. The money management system is nothing but amazing. You have so many ways your money can go like ether investing in another console, training staff, leveling up staff, advertising, and even hiring! The way you spend your money affects you in many ways. Maybe you were saving up for that new console but you decided to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on training employees, so maybe that console might have to wait until next month. Also, this game is very deep with its strategy element. If you advertise at the same time you gain more fans, if you use a boosting ability towards the end of developing a game, the overall payout is much larger. This game has room for improvement (like the graphics) but anyone who has an iPhone or iPod Touch should get this game. It is a bit pricey (4.99) but you can pull 12 hours from it in your first couple days being the owner of this game. This game is exactly what most games should be, and I hope other developers mirror off of this game.
